Envision The Community: 10th Annual Shampooch

We already know we have the best clients in the world, but when they create events to benefit their local communities, we love them even more! When a client close by invites us to a fundraiser close to our hearts, we have no choice but to attend and contribute to the cause! This year Envision attended the 10th annual Shampooch! Fundraiser event by Lambs Eat Ivy Salon located in the Thornton Park neighborhood of downtown Orlando. The fundraiser organized by Lisa Pirillo, Lambs salon owner, was inspired by her love for the MILLIONS of furry friends that go unadopted each year. Lambs Eat Ivy is an incredible salon that goes out of their way to express not only the style and originality of their clients but a passion for making a difference! Through life-changing hair transformations and partnerships with other businesses, Lambs Eat Ivy is an example salon in the Orlando community.

What is Shampooch!?

"This year’s event marked our 10th annual Shampooch! fundraiser, an event created by Lisa Pirillo, owner of Lambs Eat Ivy Salon.  We washed over 200 dogs and raised over $11,000 this year, which broke the $100,000 mark for our 10 years and has enabled us to assist 12 rescues/shelters with those funds.  A huge part of our efforts, aside from getting our beneficiaries much-needed funding, is our mission in spreading awareness of adoption over shopping for these animals." -Ciarra Groom, Lambs Eat Ivy Salon Manager

In the United States alone, approximately 7.6 million companion animals enter animal shelters nationwide every year. Of those, approximately 3.9 million are dogs and 3.4 million are cats. Each year, approximately 1.5 million shelter animals are euthanized (670,000 dogs and 860,000 cats).  The number of dogs and cats euthanized in U.S. shelters annually has declined from approximately 2.6 million in 2011.  This decline can be partially explained by an increase in the percentage of animals adopted and an increase in the number of stray animals successfully returned to their owners. Approximately 3.2 million shelter animals are adopted each year (1.6 million dogs and 1.6 million cats) and Lambs Eat Ivy is here to increase those numbers and spread awareness about the benefits of adopting a furry friend!
